The writer of Iron Man has revealed he’s working on a new comic book show for Amazon Studios.
Posting to Twitter on Tuesday (June 30), Christopher Cantwell shared a picture confirming that he will act as co-showrunner and writer for the streaming service’s forthcoming TV adaptation of the Image Comics series Paper Girls.
“I’m always misplacing my glasses in the writers room, so I finally got a string to wear them around my neck,” Christopher wrote alongside a photo of a white binder for the series.
“Very ‘old man’ I know, but I can get away with it as a co-showrunner (of a new TV series with Rogers and brilliant writer Steph Folsom, based on a stellar [Brian K Vaughn] comic).
Paper Girls follows fours girls from small-town Ohio in the 1980s who share a paper route and end up travelling through different timelines together, catching glimpses of their alternative selves on the way. It’s written by Brian K Vaughn and Cliff Chiang.
Cantwell’s revelation follows the confirmation Amazon will produce the series for television alongside Legendary Pictures and Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B.
It also follows the news that Cantwell will pen an Iron Man reboot comic series.
Publishing in September, Iron Man #1 will follow the MCU hero as he puts his high tech gadgets aside for a new start.
The comics will also feature a brand new superhero suit designed by iconic Marvel painter Alex Ross.
