WINDSOR TERRACE — Pope Francis’s newest book, “Let Us Dream,” will look at life during the time of this global crisis, and explore what this moment in history can teach people about how to approach and address upheaval in our own lives.

“Let Us Dream,” written by the Holy Father during the coronavirus pandemic, will be available Dec. 1 in both English and Spanish, Simon & Schuster, the book’s publisher, announced in a press release.

“In the COVID crisis, the beloved shepherd of over one billion Catholics saw the cruelty and inequity of our society exposed more vividly than ever before,” the release reads. “He also saw, in the resilience, generosity, and creativity of so many people, the means to rescue our society, our economy, and our planet. In direct, powerful prose, Pope Francis urges us not to let the pain be in vain.”

Pope Francis reveals how three crises in his own life changed him dramatically, for the better.

“What made me believe ‘Let Us Dream’ might actually change the world is how clear and practical his guidance is, and how deeply comforting is the voice with which he delivers it,” explained the book’s Executive Editor, Eamon Dolan. “Here, the Pope sounds closer to us — and even kinder — than we’ve ever heard him before.”

Not only does he use his personal life as an example, but the pontiff also looks at the impact economics, politics, and environmental conflicts around the globe have on vulnerable populations, the poor, and the marginalized.

He shares what he learned while scouring the streets of Buenos Aires with garbage-pickers, his views on increasing women’s leadership in the Church, among other topics in this new title.

In “Let Us Dream,” Pope Francis shows how Christians must put “the poor and the planet at the heart of new thinking.”

His action plan draws not only on sacred sources but on research from scientists, economists, and activists, among others.

“Rather than simply offer prescriptions, he shows how ordinary people acting together despite their differences can discover unforeseen possibilities,” the book’s publisher noted.

Through personal experience and real-life examples, Pope Francis reminds Christians that their first duty is to serve others and, “if we have the courage to change, we can emerge from the crisis better than before.”
