In 2019, UPtv dropped its summertime sequel – A Very Country Wedding – to the holiday flick A Very Country Christmas.
With the same casts and a few additions, the romantic movie delivers the same heartwarming story with Zane and Jeannette at the heart of the story.
The Plot Sans Spoiler
If you remember from its prequel, Zane is a country superstar swamped with tours, organizing meet-and-greets with fans, and all the many challenges and responsibilities of fame. But luck comes his way when he met Jeannette, a single mother and a promising interior designer.
Zane fell in love with Jeannette, who changes his life for the better. Though they are both leading different lives, they’ve done their best to look for ways on how to live through every difficulty and hurdle thrown in their way.
Life goes on for Zane and Jeannette in A Very Country Wedding. This time, the happy and in love couple are looking forward to tying the knot. However, it seems like the road to the altar is not going to be smooth sailing – it is paved with more difficulties, poor communication, and uncertainties.
The couple’s wedding is interrupted by Zane’s contractually obligated tour. But then one viral video of Zane – where he was seen saving a fan – made him into the country music superstar he has always wanted to be. Though Jeannette is happy for Zane, giving him her full support, she started to worry that they no longer have the same dreams, especially when Zane missed their new wedding date again.
Two of the movie’s supporting actors get a little bit more to do this time around – especially for Jolene, who is also a country superstar lending her wisdom to the couple. However, her life also takes a turn after meeting an important person from her past.
There’s also Zane’s sibling at the same time his manager, Billy, who deals with most of the business aspects of his career – especially when it is about to be wildly uncontrolled. He endlessly fights with one record executive who keeps on making his and Zane’s lives more chaotic than usual.
Meet The A Very Country Wedding Cast
1. Greyston Holt as Zane
The Canadian actor and producer are best known for his recurring role as Ray Prager Jr. in the Canadian crime drama television series Durham County where he earned a nomination for a Best Supporting Performance by a Male in a Dramatic Series during the 2008 Leo Awards.
Born in Calgary, Alberta, Greyston Holt moved to Vancouver after high school to make his acting career dream come true. He earned a small role in Killer Bash, which was followed by several more minor roles, such as the 2005 award-winning miniseries Into the West by renowned producer Steven Spielberg and The CW’s superhero television series Smallville.
He received another Leo Award nomination for his role in the fantasy-horror TV series, Bitten.
Holt had also played the guitar when he was only thirteen years old. He had a few bands through high school, and when he was nineteen, he started a hardcore metal band.
2. Bea Santos as Jeannette
Bea Santos dreams of being an actress since she was only five years old. In fact, she would put on plays in her living room in front of her family.
Though she’s been acting professionally for six years now, she has accumulated an impressive list of film and television appearances in that short time – most especially for her roles in HBO’s True Detective, the 2018 crime film Stockholm, and the Canadian television drama series Murdoch Mysteries.
She also has recently appeared in the fantasy drama television series based on Neil Gaiman’s 2001 novel, American Gods.
3. Deana Carter as Jolene
The country music singer-songwriter got the perfect role as Jolene. Deana Carter has followed the musical footsteps of his famous father, singer Fred Carter, Jr.
Her first shot in country music came in 1994 – and it was a big one. Country legend Willie Nelson got pretty interested in one of her demo tapes that he invited her to join the Farm Aid VII concert as the show’s only female artist. That same tape helped Carter earn a contract with Capitol Records that year.
By early 1995, Carter had finally released her debut album, Did I Shave My Legs for This? And her debut country single, “Strawberry Wine,” snagged the top spot of Billboard’s Hot Country Singles & Tracks. The debut album then produced two more No. 1 hits and paved way for several more.
Currently, she has seven studio albums and 18 singles, along with ten TV series and film credits. Carter first appeared as an actress in one episode of the comedy TV Series Raising Dad.
4. Greg Vaughan as Billy
Greg Vaughan started his career in the entertainment industry as a model, landing impressive campaigns for Giorgio Armani and Gianni Versace, including Banana Republic, Tommy Hilfiger, and Ralph Lauren. And he did all that before the age of 21.
Eventually, Vaughan became unhappy with his modeling life that he decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. His first role was on the popular action-drama TV series Baywatch. This led to his future appearances, including the teen drama television series Beverly Hills, 90210, until he joined the second season of Charmed as a regular cast.
Vaughan went on bagging major roles as well as significant guest roles. To date, he is one of the main characters in the American drama television series, with Oprah Winfrey serving as an executive producer, Queen Sugar.
Without a doubt, A Very Country Wedding is a must-watch!
Not only will you get some country wedding ideas from the movie, but you will surely enjoy its soundtrack too! This includes Keith Cooper’s “Back When I Could Call You Mine,” Colin Kennific’s “Love Has Been Here All Along,” and Deana Carter’s “I Never Stopped Loving You – which is perhaps one of the best country wedding songs.
You can watch A Very Country Wedding now on Amazon Prime Video.
